Maple Brook Bravado
An
impressive Full Alianza Peruvian, Bravado is our foundation herdsire.
This young guy is fineness personified in a perfect conformational
package. And just look at the beautiful bundling in his fleece. He is
the result of combining the finest and most proven Alianza alpaca
genetics in North America. Hemingway is known worldwide and Bueno has
produced over 100 winning offspring to date, and we think Bravado is one
of his best. Bravado is proudly co-owned with Ben and Gina Morgan of
Morgan's Fortunato Farm. Bravado now has over 30 offspring registered,
20 of which can be seen here at Sixth Day Farm.
Bravado is well remembered by everyone who puts their hands on him. If
you haven’t done so yet, come by our farm when he is here or at Morgan’s
Fortunato Farm when he is there. He has the densest fleece imaginable
for an animal with this degree of fineness, His neck truly does feel
like a carpet. He has high frequency crimp throughout his fleece, right
down to the ringlets that hang over his toes. His head is a hallmark,
and can be seen in all of his crias.
This is what we expect Bravado can do for your breeding program.
We don’t have to tell you what Bravado can do, you can see over thirty
of his crias for yourself. Pictures of many of the twenty of his
offspring still at our farm and of their fleeces can be seen below.
Bravado puts his classic head style on almost all of his crias. Very
fine fleeces, with curling staples are typical of his crias. As they
mature, and after their first shearing, the fleece begins to take on the
typical high frequency crimp style of their father. If the dam has good
crimp, the cria’s will be exceptional. If the dam has poor crimp, the
offspring are not likely to be as good as Bravadao but in every case
they have been a big improvement over the dam. In fact, we have
calculated EPDs to quantify the estimated improvement in the areas of
Average Fiber Diameter, Fleece Weight and Staple Length. Each year, as
we gather more production records from Bravado and his offspring, we are
able to refine these EPDs and increase their accuracy.
His current
numbers are:
- Average Fiber Diameter: -4.5 microns
- Fleece Weight: +2.1 pounds
- Staple Length: +0.9 inches
We expect Bravado to be able to reduce the micron count, increase the
staple length and increase the fleece weight in your next generation of
crias.
If you are serious about putting world class genetics into your herd and
developing lasting fineness in your fleeces, then you must come and see
Bravado. You can progeny test him for yourself by coming and looking at
his offspring. If you will be at the North American Alpaca Show this
April you will be able to see seven of his offspring there.
Bravado’s current stud fee is $3000. He is limited to twenty outside
breedings per year. For your convenience we can arrange for your dam to
be bred at either Sixth Day Farm in Western NY or at Morgan’s Fortunato
Farm in WV. Reserve your breedings before they are gone and see what
Alianza genetics can do for you.
