Alpacas of Rural Alianza

The Alpacas of Rural Alianza, one of Peru's largest Alpaca co-ops, are recognized as producers of the highest quality commercial fiber available. The Machos and Hembras of Alianza's Royal Family are known for their uniformity of fiber and lasting fineness, and they win many of the prizes when shown at Alpaca shows throughout Peru. The following words were taken from an alpaca brochure published over ten years ago, when alpacas were still being imported from Peru. At that time, many of the imports were from farms of the Alianza co-op.

The Inca Group, Peru's largest buyer of Alpaca fiber, purchases 100 percent of Rural Alianza's Alpaca clip each year. "Alianza's fiber is finer and more uniform," says Jose Zegarru Moscoso, the chief fleece buyer for Inca Group, "Forty-two percent of their total production sorts into baby Alpaca, which averages 21 microns. I believe Alianza's fiber to be the best commercially available fiber in all of Peru. That's why we insist on purchasing 100 percent of it." The amazing quality of Alianza alpacas is their ability to retain their fleece with low micron throughout their entire life.

Recently, in a discussion with Alonso Burgos of Grupo Inca, I asked if he could confirm this about the alpacas of the Rural Alianza. He said, “It is true. They are very well known for their very fine fiber and for the ability of the alpacas to hold this fineness.”

Lasting fineness is the top fiber goal of our breeding program at Sixth Day Farm. We have seen in our own experience that many of the imported animals that came from the Alianza are still micron testing in the low 20s even though these females are 12 to 14 years old and have been producing crias every year. We also have seen that the animals bred from these original Alianza imports are also holding the fineness of their fiber as they age. Recently we tested a fiber sample from an eight year old son of two original Alianza imports and his average fiber diameter was still only 20 microns after working more than five years as a herdsire.

Many breeders have noticed that crossing the blood lines of Accoyo and Alianza has led to the creation of spectacular alpacas. It is our intention to continue to breed full Alianza males that can be outcrossed in this way to your Accoyo hembras for Ali-Accoyo crias; or so that you can breed them to your Alianza hembras to produce your own full Alianza stock.

We are ready to pass this wonderful genetic advantage on to you, so that you too can breed animals of lasting fineness. We are offering stud services to the following males, our Alianza Herdsires, all of whom are directly descended from animals imported from the Rural Alianza. Call or e-mail us at sixth Day Farm today to reserve a breeding to one of these superb males. Click on the photos above to read about each of the exceptional Full Alianza sires.
